Bělá is situated on the conflusion of Bezděkovský stream and Radbuza river (also called Bílý stream, it means White stream) the name of the town Bělá originates probably from the name of this stream. The other theory connects the name Bělá with two salt springs fontained here. The situation on one of the medieval trade route from Horšovský Týn to Bavaria was important for the development of Bělá. There were more German people then Czechs in the 13th centrury so Bělá was more offen called Weissensulz. In 1600 Bělá was owned of Lamingens von Albenreuth. From 17th century about ten glass manufactures were fouded, some of them had been working in the beginning of 20th century yet. Most of inhabitants of Bělá region occupied itself by farming, wooding and handicrafts. Most of inhabitants of Bělá was displaced after 1945 and most of villages in border area stayed empty. The church of Finding of St. Cross dedicated to Sevenpain Our Lady is the dominant of Bělá town.
